PM Modi to embark on a visit to USA and Egypt from June 20-25

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-nation state visit to the United States and Egypt starting next week.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, PM Modi will first arrive on an official leg of his two-nation visit to the US from June 20–23, and from there he will depart next on a two-day (June 24-June 25) maiden visit to Egypt at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The initial leg of the PM’s highly anticipated visit to the US will commence following his arrival in New York, where he will lead the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21. Since it was first started in 2014, the International Day of Yoga has become one of the most significant events on the annual calendar of activities of the United Nations and has been attended in the past by several officials and diplomats from various nations.

Moreover, after completing the New York leg of the US visit, PM Modi will travel next to Washington D.C., where he will receive a ceremonial welcome at the White House on June 22 and engage in high-level discussions with President Biden. President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host a state dinner in honour of PM Modi during his visit. Additionally, Vice President Kamala Harris and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also jointly host a luncheon for the Prime Minister.

Elaborating on the details of the PM’s visit, the MEA added that, in addition to official engagements, PM Modi is scheduled to have interactions with leading CEOs, professionals, and other stakeholders, as well as meet members of the Indian Diaspora in the United States. He will also address a joint sitting of the U.S. Congress at the invitation of congressional leaders.

PM Modi to embark on a maiden state visit to Egypt

Following his visit to the US, PM Modi will embark on his first official state visit to Cairo, Egypt, from June 24 to June 25. Pertinently, this visit comes as an invitation from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who was the Chief Guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations in January 2023.

Pertinently, during his visit to Egypt, PM Modi, apart from holding talks with President Sisi, will also interact with senior dignitaries, prominent personalities, and the Indian community in Egypt.
