35 BADMINTON PLAYERS FROM PUNJAB LEAVE FOR HYDERABAD FOR ONE MONTH CAMP
PLAYERS WILL GET SPECIAL TRAINING AT JAWALA GUTTA ACADEMY OF EXCELLENCE: MEET HAYER
Chandigarh, June 15:-To provide a better platform to prepare the players of Punjab for National and International competitions, 35 badminton players from Punjab today left for Hyderabad to undergo special training for one month at Jawala Gutta Academy of Excellence. Players including 18 girls and 17 boys from under 9 to 16 left from Sports Department headquarter Hockey Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium Mohali. Two badminton coaches from Punjab also accompanied them.
Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer while greeting the sportsmen who left for Hyderabad said that as per the efforts of the Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to make Punjab the number one state in the country in sports, sports culture is being created in Punjab. Hyderabad is the hub of badminton in the country and the aim of sending players from Punjab is to provide a bigger platform. This camp is being organized for the first time due to the efforts of the Punjab Government, the entire cost of which is being borne by the sports department. In this camp, the players will be coached by Indian badminton coaches Mohd Arif and Jwala Gutta for a month.
The Sports Minister further said that a camp is being organized at Jwala Gutta Academy of Excellence, Hyderabad (Telangana) to train badminton players from across the country. A total of 35 players have been selected from across the state for this camp. The players are accompanied by two coaches Varun and Shahnaz.
